Sonni Svejcar is vendor at the Farmer’s Market at the Palace, and with few exceptions can be found each week. Sonni and her family moved to Harney County in 1990 and live on a farm. She began sewing as a teenager and as her skills developed so did her opportunities. These have included sewing for National Final Rodeo participants, dress shops and (for a brief time) her own local alteration shop. You can see her expertise shine through with her buckaroo vests. They are her favorite garment to sew, using her wool fabric stash, and are guaranteed to make any cowboy look distinguished.

Baking has always been a passion, having once baked 350 pumpkin rolls for her son’s band fundraiser! Sonni operated a domestic bakery for six years. Although she no longer bakes commercially, the Farmer’s Market allows her to feed her baking desire. Editor’s note: Sonni’s baguettes are a tasty bargain and often sell out.

Sonni began luxury scented candle production after being continually disappointed in store-bought candles. Her wares are the result of two years testing and gift recipient feedback. The candles are soy-based, Phthalate and toxin-free. Their aroma is long lasting and fills a room wonderfully. Sonni also makes the concrete vessels and the candle labels.

Years ago a person who had expertise in a number of subjects was referred to as a polymath. We have also heard the phrase “multi-hyphened.” Whatever the term we think it fits for Sonni and hope she’s a part of the Farmer’s Market for years to come.
